Long An International Port in the Mekong Delta province of the same name and the Port of Long Beach in California officially signed an agreement establishing a cooperative relationship at an event welcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) partners organized by the California Association of Port Authorities (CAPA).

The signing ceremony marks a significant milestone in the alliance between the two ports, opening opportunities for cooperation and knowledge-sharing in port management, operations, and market connectivity to enhance transshipment volumes for sustainable development. The signing will contribute to boosting global trade and exploring growth opportunities between the two key seaports in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are honored to cooperate with the Port of Long Beach, a reputable and world-renowned seaport,” said Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Long An Port JSC. “This is an opportunity for Long An International Port on its journey to become an internationally-recognized and preferred port in Asia. We believe that this relationship will bring mutual benefits, and we look forward to cementing cooperation through joint activities in areas of shared interest.”

Mr. Mario Cordero, CEO of the Port of Long Beach, said it is delighted to welcome the delegation from Long An province and the leadership of the Dong Tam Group to the CAPA conference. He further expressed his pleasure in signing the MoU with the Long An International Port, emphasizing its commitment to fostering agreements that go beyond trade and encompass sustainable development, emissions reductions, and environmentally-friendly practices.

“Through this, we aim for long-term cooperation, making Long An International Port and the Port of Long Beach gateways for the transshipment of goods between Vietnam and the US,” he added.

The Port of Long Beach, located in Southern California, handles over $200 billion worth of cargo annually, making it a major export port in the US and the 21st most-busiest container port globally.

In addition to the agreement with the Port of Long Beach, as part of its program visiting and working in the US, the Long An province delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People’s Committee, worked with US businesses in industries such as manufacturing, digital transformation, imports-exports, and logistics, to attract investment to Long An.
