After 25 years of operation, with nearly 6,000 graduates from hundreds of long-term and short-term training courses on subjects such as communicative English, maritime English, and deck and engine operations, the VSUP Project has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of Vietnamese seafarers in terms of foreign language and skills. This has enabled them to work on multi-national ships, navigate the oceans, and make a significant contribution to the development of the maritime industry and the country as a whole.

Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu also expressed his hope that JSU will continue to provide funding for the VSUP Project in the future and pledged that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) will always provide timely support to ensure that the Project operates effectively in line with its noble goals.

Mr. Kaji Atsushi, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, said that the 25th Anniversary Ceremony of the Establishment of the Vietnam Seafarers Quality Improvement Project is a meaningful activity in the series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations. He proposed that relevant agencies and organizations in the two countries continue to work hard to maintain and study the expansion of the Project in the future.

In recognition of the contributions of the Japan Seamen's Union (JSU), the Presidium of the VGCL awarded commemorative medals "For the cause of building the trade union" to Mr. Tanaka Shinichi, Vice President of JSU, and Mr. Ikeya Yoshiyuki, Head of the JSU Foreign Affairs Division. The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations also awarded a certificate of merit to the Japan Seamen's Union.
