THE ADDITION OF MANY PORTS TO THE VIETNAMESE PORT SYSTEM

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) of Vietnam has just announced a list of ports in Vietnam.

According to the new decision, Vietnam has 296 ports.

The new regulation divides the ports by localities instead of by regions as in the old regulation.

Specifically, Quảng Ninh has 14 ports, Hải Phòng has 50 ports, Nam Định has 3 ports, Thái Bình has 2 ports, Thanh Hóa has 10 ports, Nghệ An has 7 ports, Hà Tĩnh has 6 ports, Quảng Bình has 4 ports, Quảng Trị has 2 ports, Thừa Thiên-Huế has 2 ports, Đà Nẵng has 8 ports, Quảng Nam has 3 ports, Quảng Ngãi has 8 ports, Bình Định has 4 ports, Phú Yên has 1 port, Khánh Hòa has 17 ports, Ninh Thuận has 3 ports, and Bình Thuận has 6 ports.

In the southern region, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu has 47 ports, Bình Dương has 1 port, Đồng Nai has 18 ports, Ho Chi Minh City has 40 ports, Long An has 3 ports, Tiền Giang has 2 ports, Đồng Tháp has 3 ports, Bến Tre has 1 port, Vĩnh Long has 3 ports, Cần Thơ has 17 ports, Hậu Giang has 2 ports, Sóc Trăng has 1 port, Trà Vinh has 2 ports, An Giang has 1 port, Kiên Giang has 4 ports, and Cà Mau has 1 port. The new regulation has changed the number of ports in many areas.

In Hải Phòng, the Cơ khí Hạ Long and Biên phòng ports are no longer included. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Tân Cảng, Holcim Hiệp Phước, and Ba Son ports are no longer included.

The VIMC Hậu Giang and Lee & Man international specialized port terminals are now part of Hậu Giang port, instead of Cần Thơ port as before.

The Superdong Trần Đề - Sóc Trăng port is now part of Sóc Trăng port, instead of Cần Thơ port.

Two ports, the VIMC Hậu Giang Integrated Port and the Lee & Man International Specialized Port, are now part of Hậu Giang port, instead of Cần Thơ port as before.

The Superdong Trần Đề - Sóc Trăng port is also part of Sóc Trăng port, instead of Cần Thơ port. The new decision also added some new ports, including: The Vân Phong 1 BOT thermal power plant port (Khánh Hòa), The Nghi Sơn 2 power plant dedicated port and the port belonging to the Nghi Sơn Gas&LNG and oil refinery supporting development zone project (Thanh Hóa), The Trung Nam Cà Ná international port (Ninh Thuận), The Hòa Phát Dung Quất integrated container port (Quảng Ngãi).

The Vietnam Maritime Administration (VAMA) is responsible for organizing and guiding the implementation of port management and exploitation in Vietnamese seaports in accordance with the law. Every year, it organizes updates and submits to the Ministry of Transport for publication of the List of Ports in Vietnamese Seaports in accordance with regulations.

The Department of Transport Infrastructure is responsible for leading, coordinating with relevant agencies and units to summarize and advise the Ministry's leadership in organizing the management, exploitation, and publication of the list of ports in Vietnamese seaports.
